And what is better than a BBQ to enjoy the long days of summer. A BBQ can be less formal than a dinner and can give you more time to mingle with several people. It’s simple to do and you can mix existing clients, their friends and even potential prospects in a casual setting. The best part about a BBQ as an out of the box marketing idea is it can be as big or as small as you want it. Invite a few clients and have them each bring a friend or make it an extravaganza and turn it into an annual event. Imagine all of your clients and a bunch of their friends eating BBQ and listening to the live band you have provided… your turn to be the talk of the town.

Take one of your best clients that likes to play and ask them to call 2 other people to go out for a round. Throughout the 4 hours it takes to play a round (The Synergy team might not be the best golfers in the world but we play on pace!) the two new friends get a chance to know you as a person and a professional. Just think, if you made just one out of your 2 new introductions a new client and repeated the process every month you would have 12 new clients a year just playing a game that you already like to play. Toward the end of the year most people start thinking less about work and more about getting together with friends and family… or eating. Want to be remembered while your clients are gathered around the table laughing and having a good time as much as when they think about finances and money issues? Let’s face it we think finances and money are fun but that’s why we are in the business but most people don’t operate that way. Of course you want to be thought of during the fun times as well… send you clients that mean the most to you a thanksgiving turkey thanking them for the impact they have made in your life. You will be a topic of discussion on Turkey day and quite possibly a lot longer if there a lot of leftovers.
One of the most triumphant milestones in life is saying goodbye to the working world and hello to the world of retirement. It should be a celebration for everyone who knows them so make it one. Throw them a retirement party (side note learn to use the financial independence day language… ask the team at Synergy for more information on that). Have your client invite a segment of their closest friends and hire a photographer to take pictures of everyone. It’s a great way to preserve the moment and a great way to get to know your clients friends after the event. Nothing says “quality introduction on a favorable basis” by being the person who threw a party for someone they cared about, made the day special for everyone involved and gave them a gift that will last a lifetime.
